CJA was founded in 1916 with the hope of uniting Montreal's Jewish community and providing a central fundraising organization to serve the 14 founding organizations. La Fédération CJA a été fondée en 1917 dans l'espoir d'unir la communauté juive de Montréal et de fournir une organisation centrale pour appuyer les 14 organisations locales du Montréal des années 1920.
